I am the curriculum developer and social connections creator for the newly rebranded By, With and For Autistic Adults. Needless to say, I am LOVING the opportunity to put together trainings and social opportunities specific to adults in the autistic community. Currently, everything we offer will be online using Zoom.
I think the aspect of BWFAA that is the most important is that everything we offer is put together by, with and for the autistic community specifically and intentionally. Most classes have either a presenter or small group facilitator or curriculum designed by an autistic leader. We are highly embracing the “nothing about us without us” philosophy.
Another aspect that is unique to BWFAA is that we are more akin to a membership than taking a class or two. Everyone will have as their first opportunity the LAUNCH You! course. LAUNCH You! is designed for autistic adults to help them discover who they aspire to be, on their own terms, and guide them on how to take action to get there. It is a six-session course. You would exit that course with a very specific goal you choose and action steps specific to you of how to reach that goal.
Beyond those 6 sessions are then a full year of opportunities to keep connected. There are monthly discussion groups on topics generated by attendees to think-tank with others in the autistic community. Monthly sessions to keep your goal attainment fresh are also offered. These opportunities are at no additional cost and considered part of the LAUNCH You! course fee.
BWFAA is all about creating and connecting leaders! The membership includes the initial 6-session LAUNCH You! and all the monthly group opportunities for $350. Membership also allows first dibs access to enroll in further courses. (Our current list of courses and descriptions is under refinement and will be available soon!) 100% of our courses are content from the autistic community, with the majority of courses taught by autistic leaders.
